USDOT Propane Gas Cargo Tank Workshop*

Thursday, April 4 | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

NPGA is pleased to present the Propane Gas Cargo Tank Workshop, hosted in partnership with the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). This workshop is designed to help cargo tank repair technicians, testers, and inspectors comply with current regulations – whether as a bulk motor carrier or as a commercial repair facility – and provide a detailed presentation on how to conduct cargo tank testing as it relates to the propane industry.

The information provided can be used to satisfy most aspects of function-specific training for Registered Inspectors (RIs) operating under a Cargo Tank Facility number. Details will be provided on how the tests and inspections of the tanks should be conducted, what equipment should be used, and what regulatory required methods apply. Reference materials will be provided to assist RIs with inspections they conduct after training. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Interpretations, regulatory changes, and explanations of those will be provided, along with valuable information on what to expect should you receive a review from FMCSA.

The session will be led by:

  • Chad Bernbeck, Hazardous Materials Specialist, South Carolina and North Carolina Divisions, USDOT/FMCSA
  • Clay Greene, Southern Region Hazardous Materials Program Manager, USDOT/FMCSA
